Monroe Boys' soccer  2021 season came to an end on Tuesday night with a defeat in the regional semi final. Playing in their first regional game since 2003 the Trojans began brightly and had a number of efforts on goal in the first quarter of an hour. Isaac Langerman and Xander Middleton forcing saves from tbe Grosse Pointe keeper. The Trojans opened the scoring soon after when Austin Dunn and J'von Miller combined to release Xander Middleton down the wing. Middleton cut in and beat the defender before curling in a left footed shot beyond the keepers reach and intonthe far corner.
Sadly Monroe were unable to keep the lead for long as the Blue Devils responded with an equalizer that evaded Setzlers reach and hit the top corner from 25 yards out. Grosse Pointe continued to press and their leading scorer Lucas Frye added three goals in 10 minutes to put the game out of reach for the Trojans.

Monroe fought hard and had the better of the second half but could not break through their opponent's compact defense. The team fought to the very end and had a number of efforts on goal in the final ten minutes Solid performances form the whole team and an excellent season ended with a 14-11 record.
