Monroe Boys Varsity soccer team had to work very hard to overcome a durable Bedford squad 2-0 on Thursday night. It was the 6th game in 10 days for the weary Trojan squad and they had to dig deep to grind out another win for the season. Monroe had the majority of possession in thr first half but were unable to get on the scoreboard. Half time 0-0

The introduction of subs Evan Ortiz and Logan Brockway after the break broke the deadlock as Brockway popped up at the far post to steer the ball back across the goalmouth for Ortiz to calmly slot home.

With 10 minutes remaining Austin Dunn earned a penalty when he was brought down after a lung bursting 60 yard run to collect a through ball from Talen Swinkey. Swinkey converted the penalty.

Another solid win for the Trojan team. Great defense again by Lucis Rzepa, Trevor Mann, Bryson Lane and Matt Grenn in front of Ethan Merkle to post another clean sheet.

Team is now 10-4-2 for the season. Next game vs Ypsilanti Lincoln on Tuesday October 3rd at 7:00pm
