LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL: 0
Monroe boys' soccer had a winning start to the post season with a 1-0 win over Ypsilanti Lincoln on Saturday. The game was played in driving rain and was not conducive to their normal possession based style of play. Nonetheless the Trojans controlled the proceedings and made numerous opportunities. Brian Palmer was unlucky to hit the woodwork twice before Jovanny Gallegos was played in with a defense splitting pass by Talen Swinkey. Gallegos cleverly danced around the onrushing keeper and calmly slotted home to open the scoring.
In the second half Monroe was encamped in the opponents half but were unable to add to their tally. Better finishing will be required in the next game. Monroe now 13-5-2 for the season.
