Monroe boys 2023 soccer season was ended at the district semi final stage on Tuesday night at Ypsilanti.

Facing a powerful and deep Saline squad the Trojans put up a valiant fight but ended up on the wrong side of a  3-1 scoreline.Monroe took the lead in the first half when Brian Palmer broke away after a pass by Yuma Watanabe and scored a superb goal. Monroe defended extremely well throughout the half with the back line of Lucis Rzepa ,Trevor Mann, Bryson Lane and Mathieu Grenn providing a strong defensive barrier in front of keeper Ethan Merkle. HT1-0

In the second half the Hornets slowly ratcheted up the pressure and eventually the Monroe defense was breached. Saline added two more goals before the end to run out 3-1 winners. 

Saline will now meet Ann Arbor Skyline in the final after their 1-0 victory over Pioneer in the other semi final.

A worthy effort by the Trojan squad and a fine season overall with wins over state ranked Skyline (D1) Riverview (D2) and new Boston Huron (D2) and an overall record of 13-6-2

Monroe will graduate the following seniors  Austin Dunn, Mathieu Grenn, Trevor Mann, Ethan Merkle, Lucis Rzepa, Talen Swinkey,  and Yuma Watanabe.
