A late goal by freshman Jovanny Gallegos proved to be the difference in a dramatic game against traditional county rivals Bedford on Thursday night.The Trojans had controlled the game since Talen Swinkey converted from the penalty spot after 15 minutes. Gallegos had been brought down in the box.

The Trojans continued to have the lion's share of possession in the second period and created numerous chances but could not add to their tally. Austin Dunn, Brian Palmer and Noah Stein all had a clear sight of goal but couldn't  find the net.

The game was delayed for 10 minutes while Swinkey received treatment for an ankle injury and left the field on a cart .He did not return to the game but encouragingly, he was able to walk to the bus slowly but unaided at the end. 
Understandably the concern for their team mate affected the Monroe teams focus as Bedford scored with virtually their first attack after the restart.

The game seemed headed for a draw until with three minutes left Lucis Rzepa provided a perfect diagonal through ball into Gallegos' path. As Gallegos prepared to shoot a last ditch tackle by the defender cleared the ball into Gallegos and the rebound looped into the top corner for the strikers sixth goal of the season. An unusual goal but on the balance of play a well deserved win for the Monroe squad.

Many fine performances on the night but Noah Stein Vince Bonanni Isaac Langerman Austin Dunn and Braden Setzler had excellent games for the Trojans.
