Monroe boys' soccer team was on the wrong end of an impressive individual performance by Saline's all time leading scorer Christian Rossi on Thursday night. Rossi scored three of the four goals including a 20 yard free kick curled into the top corner of the net.

Monroe were 2-0 down early but regrouped and Xander Middleton pulled one back with a cool finish after an exchange of passes between J'von Miller and Austi Dunn created the opening. Monroe steadied the ship and looked like they were heading into half time just one goal down until Rossi's precise freekick eluded Braden Setzler in goal.

The second half was an even affair with Monroe having a number of free kick opportunities and crosses. Nik Heringhausen's header which went just wide at the far post being the closest Monroe came to scoring. As time wound down Rossi picked up the ball in Monroe's half and combined for a neat give and go and slotted home his hat-trick. 

Given the task they faced Monroe's back line still had a strong outing despite the scoreline with Daniel Presa particularly impressive with the ball at his feet and in the air. J'von Miller was again effective directing the midfield. Isaac Langerman worked tirelessly to close down opponents and Jovanny Gallegos thwarted many attacks down the right side of midfield. Another battling effort by the Trojans against the undefeated league leaders of the SEC Red division.

Monroe now 8-7 on the season.
