Score
: 1
HURON HIGH SCHOOL: 3

Monroe gave up a 1-0 half time lead as AA Huron rallied in the second half to eventually run out 3-1 winners in an action packed and eventful game. Monroe opened the scoring when Daniel Presa played a through ball to Talen Swinkey who neatly evaded the onrushing keeper and slid the ball into the net. Moments later Isaac Langerman looked to have been fouled well inside the box but the referee chose to award the free kick outside the penalty area. Before half time J'von Miller hit a fierce free kick around the wall but the Huron keeper made a fine save down at the near post.
Half time AA Huron 0-1 Monroe

In the second half the game turned when Jovanny Gallegos deftly chipped the keeper from 20 yards out only to see his lob bounce back off the inside of the goalpost. Unfortunately for Gallegos it was his last contribution as he had to leave the game shortly after following a nasty collision.

Relieved not to be at least 2-0 down Huron responded with their best 10 minutes of pressure and equalized with 20 minutes to go. Monroe's boys battled hard but the tide had turned in Hurons favor. Aided by their ability to sub in an entire lineup of 10 fresh players every 15 minutes the Ann Arbor school gradually wore down the Trojan rearguard and edged in front shortly after. Monroe were not quite done and after Xander Middleton had gone close J'von Miller hit another blistering free kick which the goalkeeper could only parry and Vincent Bonanni's rebound shot was cleared off the line and around the post. From the resulting corner Huron broke away and secured the result with a well executed counter attacking goal.

Monroe perhaps deserved more out of the game but it was an exciting battle and a much improved performance on the field turf. Huge effort again, without a break, by sophomores Austin Dunn, Lucis Rzepa and Talen Swinkey in midfield and junior Logan Janes who had another strong  game at left back.
Final Score: AA Huron 3-1 Monroe
