Monroe Boys soccer notched their first win of the season with a comprehensive 3-0 result at home to Allen Park.

The game was played in suffocating heat and humidity and the Trojan players struggled to find their rhythm In the first half. Monroe gradually got control of the game and created a couple of chances as the half drew to a close with Talen Swinkey going closest as he forced a sharp  save from the AP keeper just before the half time whistle.

The players were visibly disappointed by their sub par performance and the team began the second period with considerably more energy and purpose. The breakthrough finally came on the hour after a fine pass from Jvon Miller released Talen Swinkey who found Xander Middleton inside the box.  Middleton calmly dispatched the ball into the net from 15 yards. The impressive play continued with a first varsity goal for Talen Swinkey after a clever dribble and cross from Brian Palmer. J'von Miller capped a fine performance by completing the scoring following a neat give and go with Xander Middleton before sweeping the ball past the goalkeeper from from the edge of the box.

As the final whistle blew Logan Janes curled a spectacular shot into the top corner beyond the keeper Sadly it crossed the line after time expired and he was denied a goal on his varsity debut. Whilst it wont be recorded in the books it will be remembered by all who were there to see it. Solid performances turned in by Noah Stein, Lucis Rzepa, Austin Dunn and Jovanny Gallegos. Braden Setzler was again outstanding in goal making a vital save to preserve the lead and starting many counter attacks with his accurate distribution. Colin Johnson and Ashton Walker were moved up from the JV and came on late to play well in their first varsity games. Monroe now 1-1 on the season.
