The Monroe High boys varsity soccer team got back on the winning track with a 4-1 victory over Ida on Monday. The Trojans got on the scoreboard when Logan Amato turned in a Jake Myers cross and was then doubled by way of a excellent solo effort by Mitchell Meier. The Blue Streaks managed to pull one back after halftime when they put one past goalkeeper Tylor Poore after the ball bounced around the box. The Trojans kept up the pressure, taking 37 shots and pudding 22 of them on goal, but could not manage to put one in the back of the net. They finally got a second-half breakthrough when starting goalkeeper Gino Assenmacher scored his first goal of the season for Monroe. The Trojans finished the scoring by way of a great breakaway goal from Nick Johnson. Monroe is now 6-3-1 on the season.
