The Monroe High girl's track team competed against 10 other teams at the Track Town Showdown (replacing the Golden Triangle Invitational this year) at Saline HS on Friday 5/7. The team competed well, with 12 new personal records and 3 season bests on a day that was cold and windy. Notable finishes were: Matley Rose was 5th in the long jump, Viktoria Bloniarz was 3rd in the 3200m (with a PR of 11:40), Kamryn Bice was 3rd in shot put and 2nd in discus, Lauren Wagner was 2nd in pole vault, and Meredith Soule was 2nd in 200m, 2nd in 100m hurdles (new PR of 16.13) and 1st in the 300m hurdles, breaking her own school record with a time of 44.79.
The girls next compete on Friday 5/14 at Bedford for the SEC League championship, and again next Saturday 5/15 at the Mason Invitational.
