The Monroe varsity softball team got a much needed sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline on Tuesday to hold onto the lead in the SEC Red Division.  In game 1, the Trojans got the bats going late in the game, scoring 2 runs in the 5th inning and 5 more in the 6th to take a 10-3 victory.  In that 5th inning rally, Kallie Trouten got it started with a bunt single.  Ellie Sieler brought her in with a single, Haley Frank had an RBI single, Samantha Spicer doubled her in, and Kayla Peters smacked a long homer to left field to make the game 10-3. Sieler led the way offensively, going 3 for 4 and scoring 3 runs, and Frank had 2 hits. On the mound, Hailey Schink scattered 6 hits and struck out 4 to earn the win.  

In game 2, Monroe once again fell behind early, but scored 5 runs n the bottom of the 4th inning, and added 2 more in the 5th and another in 6th, and held on for the 11-4 win.  Alexa Amazeen pitched well, allowing only 3 Skyline hits.  Offensively, Ellie Sieler went 4 for 4 and scored 3 runs.  Erica Everson had 3 hits, Samantha Spicer had 2 hits and knocked in 3 runs, Imari Sortor had 2 hits, and Haley Frank had 3 RBI in the game.  In the big 4th inning, the action started when Frank drove in Sieler with a single to give Monroe the lead.  Spicer then doubled in Frank, Everson singled, McKenzie Peters doubled, and Kallie Trouten tripled, giving the Trojans and 8-3 lead, which they never lost.  With the wins, Monroe now stands at 14-4 (8-1 SEC).  The Trojans host Ypsilanti for a single game on Wednesday afternoon.
