ADRIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 4
On Wednesday, Monroe defeated Adrian 14-4 in the SEC opener at Vince Rossi Field. The Trojans got on the board early, scoring 2 in the first inning to grab the lead. Adrian came back with 4 runs in the 3rd inning, thanks partly to some shaky Monroe defense. The bats woke up in the bottom of the 3rd, as Monroe put up 11 to take a 13-4 lead. The Trojans added the final run in the fifth inning, when Kayla Peters knocked in Haley Frank to end the game at 14-4. Peters had a great day at the plate, collecting a single, double, triple, and 6 RBI. Imari Sortor, Ellie Sieler, and Samantha Spicer had two hits apiece, and Hailey Schink pitched well in the win. Monroe's record now stands at 2-1 (1-0 SEC). The Trojans head to Saline on Saturday, where they play Hartland, Eaton Rapids, and Freeland. Game times are 9:00, 1:30, and 4:30.
