The Monroe Varsity Softball team continued its hot hitting over the weekend in the Michigan Challenge Tournament, winning games against Belleville, North Farmington, and Salem.  On Friday night, the Trojans defeated Belleville 14-3.  Nicole Sieler was the winning pitcher, and had 2 hits, including a 3-run homer.  Samantha Spicer, Ellie Sieler, and Kayla Peters had 2 hits apiece .  After Saturday's games were rained out, Monroe got back in action Sunday morning.  After North Farmington took a 2-0 lead, the Trojans came right back with 5 runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back.  Kayla Peters connected for a grand slam, way over the right-centerfield fence, and Abbie Begley followed with a homer to left.  Imari Sortor later slapped one over the fence for a homer, and Ellie Sieler had 4 singles in the game.  Later, Monroe defeated Salem 13-2 to go undefeated in the tournament.  Emma Favreau pitched well, and Abbie Begley went 3 for 3 to pace the Monroe offense.  Erica Everson, Kayla Peters, and Ellie Sieler had 2 hits apiece.  Monroe's record is now 22-8 on the season, and the Trojans face Ann Arbor Pioneer in a big SEC Red Doubleheader on Tuesday.
