Boys Varsity Swimming vs. Dexter High School

Lose: 39 - 142
Monroe had their last away dual meet of the season Thursday against Dexter, where they had some promising improvements. The Trojans were lead by Josh Riggs, Luke Lindsay, & Robert Johnson.
Caeden Blackwell, Deven Offerman, & Jonathan Weber also swam well.
Monroe has our final dual meet of the season HOME against Tecumseh this Tuesday.

Boys Varsity Swimming wins a close one against Bedford!

The boys varsity swimming team traveled to Chelsea to compete in a Tri Meet against the bulldogs, and the Bedford Kicking Mules. In a very close meet, Monroe pulled out a win against Bedford (93-90)! We won some very close races - our Medley relay won by 16 100ths of a second! Alec Adams was a double winner in the 200 Fr & 500 Fr events, and Josh Riggs was 2nd in both the 50 Fr & 100 Breaststroke. Jayce Hay won the 200 IM, and Maxx Adams was 3rd in the 50 Fr and 2nd in the 100 Fr. Alex Roa-Garcia posted a 2nd place finish for the Trojans. Luke Lindsay, Robert Johnson, & Parker Bomia-Laberdee also swam well.

Boys Varsity Swimming - Monroe County Meet

Win: 236 -
Monroe had a strong performance at the Monroe County Meet today, and really started to show the teams growth. They scored 89 more points than they did last year! Alec Adams (4th 200 Fr, 3rd 500 Fr) & Jayce Hay (3rd 200 IM, 4th 100 Fly) were the top finishers for Monroe.
The Medley Relay team of Alex Roa-Garcia, Josh Riggs, Jayce Hay, & Maxx Adams posted a season best time, finishing in 3rd. The 200 Fr relay 4th (Riggs, Hay, M Adams, A Adams) & 400 Fr relay 6th (A Adams, Reggie Geftos, M Adams, A Roa-Garcia) also posted season bests.
Other top finishers were: Vishwas Joshi (4th Diving), Leandro Alcantara (5th Diving), Alex Roa-Garcia (6th 100 Back), & Josh Riggs (4th 100 Breast). Avery Walker & Derek Crum also swam well.

Boys Varsity Swimming vs. Huron High School

The Trojans Varsity boys swimming team had an SEC dual against AA Huron last night, and posted some very strong time improvements."The boys have all been steadily improving all season. It was nice to see them perform so well, despite being tired from the strong training they've done over the last few weeks," said Coach Dowen.
Josh Riggs & Alec Adams were top point earners for Monroe. Luke Lindsay & Caeden Blackwell also swam well. Our record is now 2-4-1
Boys Varsity Swimming WINS 2 at HOME

Monroe Varsity Swimming hosted a Tri Meet at home last night, winning both duals. (Mon: 138 Wayne: 24 / Mon: 129 Ypsi: 36)
Alex Roa-Garcia had a stand out meet, winning the 200 IM & 100 back against both teams, posting a 12 second drop in the IM...FROM A PUSH OFF (since we cannot dive in our pool). Monroe packed a punch with 1-2-3 finishes in the 200 Free (Luke Lindsay, Robert Johnson, & Parker Bomia-Laberdee). The Trojans went 1-2 in diving with Vishwas Joshi leaping to a new PR, & Leandro Alcantara (2nd) also posting a best score. Monroe got another 1-2 finish in the 100 Breaststroke with Josh Riggs & Deven Offerman.
Other winners for the Trojans were Maxx Adams, Reggie Geftos, Jayce Hay, & Alec Adams.
Monroe heads to Huron tomorrow night. GO MONROE!
Boys Varsity Swimming vs. Skyline HS

Monroe Freshman Jayce Hay won the 100 Breaststroke last Thursday against Skyline. Jayce also finished 2nd in the 50 Free. Alec Adams finished 2nd in the 200 IM, and Vishwas Joshi was 2nd place in diving. Monroe lost to Skyline, 59 to 123.
We have a busy week this week -@ HOME 1/30, @ Huron on 2/1, and we head to Dundee for the County Meet this Saturday 2/3.

Boys Varsity Swimming 2nd at Wayne Invite

Win: 280 -
Monroe had an outstanding weekend at the Wayne Invitational, with every boy on the team posting best times and qualifying for Saturdays finals. The Trojans finished 2nd with 280 points.
Alec Adams was the teams top point earner, finishing 2nd in both the 200 & 500 fr as well as the 200 & 400 fr relays, posting career best times. Vishwas Joshi & Leandro Alcantara had an amazing meet, finishing 1-2 in diving, also reaching their career best scores. Josh Riggs was 2nd in the 100 Breast & 3rd in the 50 Fr, posting career best times. Jayce Hay was 3rd in the 200 IM with his career best. Luke Lindsay, Alex Roa-Garcia, & Zekiel Green also swam well.
"Every boy on the team was a key contributor & it was really exciting on deck. They all tried their best for each other, and that made me a very proud coach", said Coach Dowen. GO MONROE!

Monroe's Boys Varsity Swimming Team hosted Lincoln last night in a nailbiter, ending in a tie 93 to 93! "Its very rare to have a tie in swimming. I knew it would be a close meet, & I am very happy with how our team performed." said Coach Erin Dowen. The Trojans came to compete, posting best times despite the fact they can't use starting blocks. It was LOUD natatorium, as the following athletes were top finishers:
1st - Medley Relay (Alex Roa-Garcia, Josh Riggs, Jayce Hay, & Maxx Adams)

Boys Varsity Swimming vs. Pioneer High School

Boys varsity swimming faced the defending state champions at AA Pioneer last night. Top finishers for the Trojans were Vishwas Joshi (2nd - Diving), Josh Riggs (2nd - 100 Free), Leandro Alcantara (3rd - Diving), and the 200 Free Relay team of Jayce Hay, Alec Adams, Maxx Adams, & Riggs was 3rd. Other top performers were Reggie Geftos & Alex Werner.
Our next dual is HOME vs Lincoln next Thursday. Come support your Trojans @ 6pm Jan. 11th.

Boys Varsity Swimming vs. Saline High School

Monroe boys varsity swimming traveled to Saline last night to face the Hornets in their first SEC dual of the season. Alec Adams swam well, finishing 3rd in both the 200 & 500 free events. Zek Green was 3rd in the 200 IM. Our relays also performed well, with fast swimming from Jayce Hay, Maxx Adams, & Josh Riggs. Go Monroe!
Boys Varsity Swimming Tri Meet Vs Woodhaven & Erie Ida

Monroe faced Woodhaven & Erie-Ida last night in a Tri-meet, losing both duals (Woodhaven 102 Monroe 83) (Erie Ida 110 Monroe 73). "I'm encouraged with how many events we won - we are showing real growth from last year, and we have some great Freshman on our young team," said Coach Dowen.

Boys Varsity Swimming SMISL RELAY MEET

Monroe boys varsity swimming had a great showing at last Saturdays SMISL relay meet, finishing in 2nd place. Last year, the Trojans finished 6th. "We were very happy with our new guys. Some of these boys are brand new to the sport, & put in tremendous effort to get themselves ready for the first meet. It was a great day on deck to be a Trojan." said Coach Dowen.
Monroe showed depth and promise as they continue to rebuild the program. All of Monroe's 22 athletes scored & posted best times to help the Trojans improve.
