The Monroe Varsity softball team enjoyed its senior day, as they swept a doubleheader against the Adrian Maples on Wednesday afternoon.  In game 1, the Trojans were locked in a tight battle until the bottom of the sixth inning, when they scored 6 runs to end the game by the run rule.  Allie Hall was the winning pitcher, and was also 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI.  Maci Willey picked up 3 hits including a triple, and Jenna Ruettinger, Natalie Kelley, and Avery Leach had 2 hits apiece.  In game 2, the two teams once again were deadlocked early, with Monroe holding a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning.  The Trojans scored 3 runs in the 5th and 5 more in the 6th, and held on for a 10-2 win.  Avery Collett led the way offensively, going 3 for 4. Jenna Ruettinger picked up 2 more hits in the game.  Alana Aulph was the winning pitcher and also had 2 hits, and Avery Leach knocked in 3 runs.  With the wins, Monroe's record stands at 10-9, and 7-6 in SEC play.
