Monroe Boy's soccer continued their excellent run of form with an impressive 4-2 victory over state ranked #12 Riverview on Saturday.The Trojans fell behind after 10 minutes after an uncharacteristic series of defensive errors presented the Pirates captain TJ Asciutto with a straightforward shot on goal. The visitors continued to pose problems for the home team and first team all state forward Denin Oglecevac twice went close. As the half progressed the Trojan midfield duo of Talen Swinkey and Austin Dunn established greater control of the game and just before half time a powerful Swinkey shot was only parried by the keeper. Vishwas Joshi once again reacted quickest to smash in the rebound for his fourth goal in four games.

In the second half the Trojans began to dominate possession with Swinkey and Dunn again linking all the passes together and Lucis Rzepa and Bryson Lane providing the outlet wide. The Trojan pressure eventually turned into goals as first Yuma Watanabe and then Jovanny Gallegos scored. Joshi and Luis Diaz with the assists. Gallegos then added the fourth with the goal of the game, a towering header at the far post from a perfectly measured corner kick by Austin Dunn. Solid game also from Tobin Becker who put in two good shifts as cover for the defensive back line.

 Riverview earned a late penalty to score a consolation goal. Very encouraging performance by the Trojan squad especially to recover from the early setback and subdue the talented forwards on the Riverview team.

Monroe now 7-2-1. Next game at home to Ann Arbor Pioneer on Tuesday Sept 19 at 7:00pm. (Teacher Appreciation Night)

Monroe's JV team also won 3-2 with goals from Eric Sanchez, Luis Diaz and Edwin Sanchez.
