Monroe Boys' varsity soccer recorded their 4th win of the season and continued their undefeated start to the season as they overcame a determined Ida side 6-0 at Bunkelman Field on Tuesday night. 

Monroe scored in the first minute when Jovanny Gallegos seized on an under hit back pass and fed Evan Ortiz for the opener. Monroe had the ball in the back of the net twice more in the first half but both goals were ruled out and the Trojans had to wait until the middle of the soccer half to extend their lead. Ida were very disciplined and organized at the back and it took a perfectly weighted through ball from Talen Swinkey to allow Gallegos to break through and score. Austin Dunn struck the post with a fierce left footed drive before a free kick from Swinkey was saved and Gallegos slid the rebound to Vishwas Joshi to score. Freshman Aiden Gray came on as a late sub and scored his first varsity goal with a brave header on the rebound after the keeper had blocked his first attempt. 

Ida were playing their second game in two days and gaps began to open up in the final few minutes as they seemed to tire.  Bryson Lane capped off another fine performance and slid in to score the fifth goal from an assist by Talen Swinkey.Swinkey himself rounded out the goals with a well taken penalty in the last minute. Trevor Mann made some crucial tackles in defense and Logan Brockway was a tireless and and aggressive ball winner throughout the game. Ethan Merkle recorded his third shutout of the season. Trojans are 4-0-1 and next game is away to AA Huron on Thursday August 31. Kick off 5:30pm
