Monroe Boys Soccer endured a frustrating evening away to Gibraltar Carlson as they came away with a 1-1 tie after a dominating performance. The Carlson%uFFFDdefense%uFFFDwas resilient as the Trojans pinned the Marauders back in their own defensive third%uFFFDfor the the majority of the game. The Trojans%uFFFDdid break the deadlock after 18 minutes when good work by Luis Diaz set up a cross for%uFFFDTalen Swinkey. Jovanny Gallegos met the cross at the far%uFFFDpost and knocked the ball down for Brian Palmer to%uFFFDscore. The Trojans continued to control the game with long sequences of possession in the second half but were unable to fashion a clear enough opportunity inside the penalty area to trouble the Carlson defense%uFFFDand add to their lead. Carlson's keeper was kept busy with number of long range%uFFFDshots from outside the box by Swinkey and Gallegos..

With 10 minutes remaining Carlson won a free kick on one of the rare forays across halfway%uFFFDand the resulting cross was headed home for the equalizer.

It was a dominant performance but ultimately%uFFFDa disappointing outcome for a game in which Monroe had so much of the ball.%uFFFDStrong performances by Austin Dunn in midfield%uFFFDBryson Lane in defense and Luis Diaz played well on his varsity debut.
