The Trojan varsity soccer team left Ann Arbor with a hard earned tie after a tense encounter with Ann Arbor Huron. The River Rats were looking to even the score after their earlier loss to the Trojans and began the game on the offensive. The Monroe defense was equal to the challenge and kept the score goal less through half time. The best chance  of the half fell to Monroe’s Nick Johnson whose shot  forced a fine save from the Huron keeper. In the second half the game continued to swing back and forth before a perfectly weighted pass from J’von Miller wrong footed the Huron defense and played in Norberto Flores who hammered the ball home from a tight angle.Monroe was forced to defend as Huron searched for the equalizer but continued to stretch the Huron team on the break with Logan Tucker,Miguel Diaz and Xander Middleton working hard up front. The Monroe goal was finally breached with 10 minutes remaining when Huron beat the offside trap and fired a low shot into  Braden Setzler’s goal. A much improved performance on the turf for the Monroe squad and probably a fair result on the overall balance of play. Monroe record 9-5-3
