Parents, guardians, alumni, friends of the program:
We need your help! Every year we, as a host school for the state finals, provide workers to help direct parking at MIS for the state finals. This year, because of the uncertainty surrounding everything, we were unsure if we would need to provide workers. As of this past weekend, it looks like we need people to help with parking for BOTH Friday and Saturday sessions of the state finals. Use the link here to sign up to help. We apologize for the late notice on all of this, but we just found out the details over the weekend. For those who sign up to help, we will provide credentials and details for the day(s) you sign up to work. Thank you all so much for your patience and assistance with this!

Home Meet Protocol
HOST: Monroe Girls & Boys Cross Country Programs.
DATE: Saturday September 26, 2020
LOCATION: Munson Park, Monroe, MI 48162
INSTRUCTIONS: All protocols available from the State of Michigan, MHSAA, and Monroe Public Schools concerning COVID19 will be followed. In order to keep athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, and community members safe, the way in which the meet will be held will be different from what we are used to. We ask for everyone’s patience and that you thoroughly read through the expectations. Please cover any changes from the normal meet expectations and the timelines with your team before arriving.
An aerial map of the grounds is included and should be looked over carefully. Team camp areas, parking for spectators, warm-ups, cool downs, and race times are clearly marked on the map. Areas in the park will be marked to maintain social distancing at all times.
Upon arrival ALL Monroe athletes and coaches will have their temperatures taken and complete the questionnaire provided by the SEC. All MHSAA protocols will be followed. Lincoln will be responsible for checking their own athletes and staff. Everyone, including spectators, must wear a mask at all times except for warming-up, racing, or cooling down.
ATHLETE DROP-OFF and PICK-UP: All vehicles will drop-off/pick-up athletes in designated areas for each of the boys and girls races. If the vehicle is staying for the race it must remain in the designated LOT until directed to do otherwise. Once the race is over, we are asking that parents/spectators move their vehicles promptly so that the spectators for the next race can move in. In an attempt to maintain social distancing each race will clear the area before the next race begins.
SPECTATORS: In keeping with State of Michigan and MHSAA rules, there will be a limit of TWO spectators per competing athlete. All spectators MUST wear a mask at all times. Anyone failing to follow these protocols will be asked to leave the meet. Having meets this year is a privilege; don’t be the reason we can’t have any more.
TEAM CAMPS: Designated areas on the map will be provided for team camps. Once athletes arrive at the team camp they must maintain 6ft of distance from one another and may not wander from that area. The only times they will leave the team area is to warm-up, race, cool down, or for restroom breaks. There will be a porta potty designated for each team to use while at the meet. Maintaining 6ft of distance while waiting in line is necessary. Coaches are expected to make sure teams follow these criteria. Boys teams and spectators are asked to park in Lot 2. Girls teams must park in LOT 1 and wait in their vehicles until 9:00am. Then following the designated route on the map may move over to setup camp.
START LINE: Teams may ONLY report to the start line 5 minutes before the start of the race. While at the start line 6ft distancing must be maintained at all times, including any strides, dynamic warm-up routine, etc. before the start of the race. NO high fives, fist bumps, or circling up for team cheers pre-race will be allowed. Team cheers pre-race will be allowed as long as 6ft of distance remains between the athletes. X’s will be painted in each team’s starting box separated by 6ft of distance allowing 10 runners in the front row for each team. There will be sequential rows behind that first row of runners with 6ft of distance and will start concurrent with the group in front of them.
FINISH LINE: There will not be a traditional chute following the finish line. Runners will be encouraged to keep moving and get away from the finish line as quickly as possible. Timing and results: We will use our Finishlynx system to keep the chute socially distanced. Each athlete will be assigned a bib number. Please ensure that bib numbers are attached at all 4 corners, secured and centered on the front of each athlete’s jersey. No tags will be taken. Athletes will exit the chute promptly, and immediately return to their team camps. Printed results will be available immediately following each race. Results will be uploaded to Athletic.net at the completion of the meet.
Masks, water, and hand sanitizer will NOT be provided and it is the responsibility of athletes to show up with enough of both to last the entirety of the event. EVERYONE MUST ARRIVE WITH HIS/HER OWN SUPPLY OF WATER. ANY ATHLETE WITHOUT WATER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
VOLUNTEERS: All volunteers will wear masks at all times, have temperature checks, answer the symptoms survey, and when working in the finish line chute will wear rubber/latex gloves.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: The threat of inclement weather will result in the event being cancelled.
Schedule of Events:
