On Wednesday at Vince Rossi Field, the Monroe varsity softball team defeated Ypsilanti High School by a score f 15-0. Hannah LaVanway got the start on the mound for the Trojans, and allowed just one hit. Monroe scored 4 runs in the bottom of the first, led by a run-scoring triple by Samantha Spicer, and RBI double by Kayla Peters, and a sacrifice fly by Erica Everson. In the 2nd, the Trojans added 7 runs, keyed by a 2-run single by Spicer and an RBI single by Everson. The game ended in the bottom of the 3rd, when Lexi Sanchez tripled, scoring Hailey Schink and Hannah LaVanway. With the win, Monroe climbs to 15-4 overall (9-1 SEC). The Trojans head to Ann Arbor Frday for a league doublheader at Pioneer.
