PIONEER HIGH SCHOOL: 1
On Tuesday, the Monroe varsity softball team swept Ann Arbor Pioneer to clinch the SEC Red Division championship. In game 1, Nicole Sieler homered in the bottom of the first inning, and the Trojans scored at least a run in every inning on their way to a 10-1 win. Sieler was also the winning pitcher, allowing just 4 hits in the game. Kayla Peters collected 3 hits in the game, while Abbie Begley and Haley Frank had 2 hits apiece. In game 2, Monroe again jumped out early and cruised to an 11-0 win. Haley Frank pitched a 2-hit shutout, and Abbie Begley and Ellie Sieler had 3 hits apiece, and Jaclyn Clark had 2. Once again, Nicole Sieler homered, this time a 3-run shot in Monroe's 8-run fourth inning. With the win, Monroe moves to 24-8 overall, and 13-3 in SEC Red play.
