On Monday, the Monroe varsity softball team celebrated Senior Day by sweeping a pair of games against Lincoln, winning 9-3 and 9-7.  In game 1, Monroe scored 4 runs in each of the 5th and 6th innings to take control of the game.  Haley Frank led the way offensively for the Trojans, going 4 for 4 and driving in 4 runs, and Samantha Spicer hit a 2-run homer in the big 5th inning rally.  Nicole Sieler had 3 hits in the game, and also was the winning pitcher.  In game 2, Monroe took a 9-1 lead, and held on despite a late Lincoln rally.  Emma Favreau pitched 5 strong innings to pick up the win, and Imari Sortor was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI and made a great diving catch in right field.  Samantha Spicer and Abbie Begley had 2 hits apiece.  "Our seniors have worked extremely hard over the past 4 years, and their work has paid off.  They represent the school well both on and off the field", said coach Jim Davis.  Monroe now stands at 19-8 on the season.
