A fine hat trick in the first 20 minutes of the game by Xander Middleton put Monroe Boys Soccer team firmly in the drivers seat in their clash with Ypsilanti Lincoln High  School.

The first goal came as Middleton followed in a shot by J'von Miller which appeared to be heading wide and steered it home.The second goal was a neat turn and powerful left footed shot following a pass by Austin Dunn. The third was the pick of the bunch as Middleton spun away from several defenders before placing the ball into  the bottom corner of the net.

The Trojans were in complete control of the game at this point and entered half time with a a comfortable 3-0 lead.  

In the second period the visitors lifted their game and posed a few problems for Monroe. They pulled one back before Braden Setzler, making a rare appearance out of the goal, raced onto a through ball from Middleton before cutting inside the defender and lashing the ball home from 20 yards out.

Lincoln added another consolation goal before the end but the result was never in doubt. Monroe now 10-8 on the season.
