The Monroe High School boys varsity soccer team kept its winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Ypsilanti High on Thursday. The Trojans held possession for much of the game and outshot the Grizzlies 17-3, but could not break through until late in the first half when Nick Johnson slid a pass across the box for Miguel Diaz to pounce on. Diaz then turned provider for the second goal when he played a beautiful though ball to a on-rushing Andrew Buchko, who tucked it away nicely in the back of the net. Gino Assenmacher and Tylor Poore combined for the shutout. Monroe is now 7-3-1 on the season.
