Monroe Boys soccer won their three team invitational in convincing fashion on Saturday afternoon at Custer Stadium.Riverview were defeated 4-0 in the opener with goals from Xander Middleton, Lucis Rzepa (directly from a corner) and one each for Talen Swinkey and Jovanny Gallegos. Assists provided by Isaac Langerman and Brian Palmer.
Before the second game Dr Ray took time to recognize the Golden Goal officers Lisa Middleton and Tracy Setzler booth announcer Loh Bonanni and Mike Stein for his work rebuilding the team dugouts. Each received a well deserved memento from the school district in appreciation of their time and contribution to the soccer program.
In the second match Carlson were defeated 5-0. Middleton scored the first goal after an excellent team move that ended with a cross from Noah Stein turned in at the near post. Monroe remained in the drivers seat throughout the game denying the visitors any real goal scoring opportunities whilst creating chances at the other end. Middleton added another and Gallegos chipped with two more. Langerman capped off a good day with the fifth goal. Assists came from Stein Swinkey and Jvon Miller.
Monroe's JV team also won both games with a 3-0 win over Riverview and a 2-0 victory over local rivals SMCC. Ashton Walker,Colin Johnson Matt Grenn and Bryson Lane were outstanding for the Trojans.
Monroe's varsity team is now 8-5 on the season
